8:00 – 10:00 The Physiology of Explosive Movements (Lecture) Mark Kovacs, Ph.D., CSCS,
The body derives the energy needed for muscle contraction from three sources It is important to understand the physiology of these system to properly design training programs that incorporate proper work:rest ratios. This session covers how the body produces energy, how a muscle uses the biomechanical principles to produce explosive power (RFD,SSC,SEC), and how to train for explosive movements.
10:00 – 11:00 Measurement and Assessment of Speed, Agility, and Power(Lecture & Hands On) Mark Roozen, M.Ed, CSCS,*D, NSCA-CPT, FNSCA
In this session attendees will be exposed to various field tests that can be easily used by the practitioner to assess Power, speed and agility. There will also be a hands on component to give attendees a better understanding of how these test should be performed.
11:00 – 12:00 Dynamic Flexibility & Warm-up (Lecture & Hands On) Peter Melanson, MS, CSCS,*D
All movement, powerful or not, requires a certain amount of muscular and joint flexibility. This session will address the importance of an adequate warm-up and provide strategies for improving flexibility with an emphasis on utilizing dynamic warm-ups.
