Coaching Advancement Grant & Assistantship Commitee: Student Member

The NSCA Foundation is adding a student member position to the Coaching Advancement Grant and Assistantship Committee to foster inclusivity and ensure the perspective of aspiring professionals is represented in the selection process. By engaging student members, we aim to gain valuable insights into their unique needs and aspirations, ultimately enhancing our scholarship program's impact on their academic and career journeys. This addition reflects our commitment to supporting the next generation of strength and conditioning leaders.

Student Volunteer Position Description: Coaching Advancement Grant & Assistantship Committee 
Position Title: Student Committee Member
Position Type: Volunteer
Position Duration: Annual Term (July 15 - July 14)

Position Overview:

The Student Committee Member is an integral part of the National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation Coaching Advancement Grant & Assistantship Committee. This position offers students an opportunity to gain valuable insights into grant administration, coaching advancement, and committee operations while contributing their unique perspectives to enhance the committee's initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Orientation:
    • Participate in an orientation to understand the committee's purpose, structure, guidelines, responsibilities, and expectations.
    • Familiarize oneself with relevant documents, meeting schedules, and historical committee activities.
  1. Participation:
    • Share opinions, raise questions, and provide input on relevant topics, even as a non-voting member.
    • Participate in committee meetings and teleconferences, staying informed about ongoing initiatives.
    • Engage actively in committee operations and discussions, which include quarterly virtual meetings. The position has an hourly annual commitment of 10-15 hours.
  1. Student Input:
    • Liaise with peers to gather feedback, needs, and challenges faced by students utilizing social media, and in-person state/regional/provincial/national conferences.  
  1. Annual Position:
    • Serve a one-year term on the committee, starting from July 15 and concluding on July 14 of the following year, acting as a representative of the student community, bringing their voice and concerns to the forefront.
  1. Learning and Growth:
    • Utilize the experience to develop a deeper understanding of program administration, and committee dynamics.
    • Gain exposure to industry trends, best practices, and professional networking opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Must be an NSCA Member
  • Currently enrolled as a student with an interest in strength and conditioning coaching or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present student perspectives effectively.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for learning, contributing, and being part of a professional committee.
  • Willingness to commit time and effort to the committee's activities and discussions.
