Tomas Ruvalcaba is an Assistant Professor in the Fire Technology Department at Santa Ana College. He graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology, both with an emphasis in Strength and Conditioning and Exercise Physiology. Ruvalcaba is also a student in the Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences program at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions with a concentration track of Human and Sport Performance. His research has investigated hydration techniques, physiological characteristics, and physical fitness performance of wildland fire suppression aid recruits during academy training. In addition, Ruvalcaba has conducted research into the health and fitness characteristics of structural firefighters, deputy sheriffs, and Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) students.
