A 1986 graduate of Tennessee Tech University, Moffitt began his coaching career in 1987 as strength, assistant football, and wrestling coach at John Curtis Christian School in River Ridge, Louisiana. He was named associate strength coach at University of Tennessee from 1994-1997, before moving to the University of Miami for two seasons. Moffitt was then named strength and conditioning coordinator at LSU on January 10, 2000, a position he held for over 20-years. Among his peers, Moffitt is recognized for mentorship and his passion for developing young coaches, in addition to the thousands of student-athletes he has impacted over his 34-year coaching career. ?
