1:10 PM - 2:10 PM Organization and Administration of Military Tactical Strength and Conditioning Programs by Matt Parvis, MS, CSCS, RSCC*D All branches of the military are now leveraging significant resources for the creation and development of their tactical strength and conditioning programs. Staff hired to run the programs come from college/pro/Olympic sport backgrounds and lack knowledge centering on organization/administration in the military. To address this hurdle, this presentation will cover facility design, equipment procurement/funding options, program oversight, reporting metrics for program justification, assimilation into the military culture, and staff roles within the programs. |
2:10 PM - 3:10 PM Energy System Programming for U.S. Air Force Pararescue by Ron Arellano, CSCS, NSCA-CPT, TSAC-F, RSCC This session will deal with how programming is optimized to enhance operator physical readiness. Operators must always be ready and their program needs to take into account a demanding training schedule, frequent deployments, and unconventional communication. This talk will dive into programming strategies that maximize the physical qualities they need based on job tasks and a customized physical assessment. Different programs include intake, selection preparation, and various other plans often generally requested by the Pararescue community. Other talking points include current needs in human performance for the air force and future needs based on where data and experience are trending. |
