NATIONAL STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 2023 LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP HONOREE

Scholarship will be given in honor of educator and leader Dr. Lee E. Brown

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Foundation Board of Directors takes immense pride in recognizing Dr. Lee E. Brown, EdD, CSCS,*D, FNSCA, as the prestigious 2023 Legacy Scholarship Honoree.

An esteemed scholar, Dr. Brown has authored over 600 total scholarly articles, presentations, books, and chapters, making significant contributions to the field. His impact as a leader and educator is immeasurable—on the NSCA, the NSCA Foundation, and the strength and conditioning community.

“Dr. Brown is a highly dedicated educator and leader in the field of strength and conditioning. His work has made a profound impact on our community, and he has shaped the lives of thousands of individuals in the profession,” explains Dr. Don Melrose, NSCA Foundation President.

A California native, Dr. Brown acquired his BS in Physical Education from the distinguished East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. He later pursued his postgraduate studies and secured his EdD from the eminent Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Displaying exceptional leadership, Dr. Brown held the position of President of the NSCA from 2006 to 2009 and subsequently President of the NSCA Foundation from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Brown serves as a Professor Emeritus of Kinesiology at California State University, Fullerton.

“I am honored to be recognized as the honoree of this year’s award. Thank you for recognizing my work and the contributions of my students to the field and for supporting future students who are pursuing their education in strength and conditioning,” states Dr. Brown.

Created in 2022, the Legacy Scholarship awards $2,000 annually to an applying NSCA Member pursuing a doctoral degree in strength and conditioning-related fields. The Legacy Scholarship was developed to acknowledge the lasting impact and dedication of NSCA Members and is given in honor of a different member each year.
